Three persons, including a four-year-old boy, were killed when the four-wheeler by which they were travelling fell into a ditch near Katagihalli Gate on Hirisave-Nuggehalli Road on Saturday night.

The deceased are police constables Ashok and Mahadevaswamy, attached to the Mahadevapura police station in Bangalore, and Charan (4), son of another police constable, Srinivas.

According to the police, the deceased were travelling with four other police personnel from Bangalore to Baguru in Channarayapatna.

The accident occurred when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

Ashok and Mahadevaswamy died on way to a hospital in Bellur and Charan succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

The Nuggehalli police have registered a case. The police said the deceased were “on official duty”.

However, sources in the department stated that they were on their way to attend the wedding of a police constable in Channarayapatna.
