Three persons from Mysuru were killed and two others were injured in an accident at Hosa Budanur on the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway on Thursday.

The deceased have been identified as S. Raghunandan Jetti, (55) of 10 Cross of Ramajuja Road, his relative Sumithra Padmanabha Jetti (53) of Netaji Nagar and car driver N. Prakash (23) of Kethanahalli near T. Narasipura in Mysuru district.

Mr. Raghunandan Jetti’s wife Mythili (45) was severely injured and has been rushed to a private hospital in Mysuru.

Mr. Raghunandan Jetti, a Food Quality Controller at Mysore Zilla Panchayat, and his family members were heading to Bengaluru to attend a house-warming ceremony when their car met with an accident, Mandya Rural police said.

Over-speed caused the accident. The car hit the divider, turned twice, crossed the lane and collided with another car coming from the opposite direction, police said.

The car was badly damaged and the injured were stuck inside. They were pulled out by the local residents. While three died on the spot, Ms. Mythili was rushed to a hospital in Mysuru, police added.

Meanwhile, driver of the car that was heading towards Mysore suffered minor injuries.

The police have registered a case and investigating it.
