Three killed in two accidents on NH 4

Three persons were killed and two were injured in separate accidents on National Highway 4 in Sira taluk of the district on Tuesday.

In the first accident, a six-year-old boy was killed in a hit-and-run case near Balenahalli.

The police said the victim was identified as Mohith Gowda. He had come from Gauribidanur in Bangalore Rural district and was visiting his aunt in Balenahalli.

The accident occurred when Mohith was crossing the road to graze cattle. He sustained serious injuries and died on the way to hospital.

In the second accident, two persons were killed on the spot and two sustained injuries when a courier service vehicle rammed into a stationary lorry.

The police identified the victims as Prashanth and Prakash, both aged 30. The injured persons were identified as Anand and Mallikarjuna.

All four were working for the courier service, based at Badami in Bagalkot district.

Cases have been registered at Kallambella police station.
