Three killed, 10 injured as vehicle falls of bridge in Sira

Three persons including a girl were killed on the spot and 10 sustained injuries when a four-wheeler (Qualis) fell off the Maranagere bridge in Sira taluk of Tumakuru district on Monday.

The deceased have been identified as Maanikkam (46), Meena (29) and Poorvika (4). They are all residents of Bengaluru and native of Tamil Nadu. They were all returning to Bengaluru from Murudeshwar when the accident occurred.

They had gone to a tour and were coming from Hiriyuru in Chitradurga district towards Bengaluru when the front left tyre burst and the driver lost control of the vehicle and the vehicle fell off the bridge into a pit around 12.30 p.m. on NH 48.

The injured were treated at Sira taluk government hospital and then shifted to Tumakuru and Bengaluru.
