Hassan police have taken three persons into custodyin connection with an assault on youths near K.Hoskote in Alur taluk on Tuesday evening. The three are Mithun, Santhosh and Kumar. Mithun is said to be an active member of pro-Hindutva groups in Alur-Sakleshpur.
They had allegedly assaulted three youths of Kadaluru Koplu village in a roadside eatery near K.Hoskote. The injured are Sadath (22), Mohammed Rishad (23) and Mohammed Azaz (22). Among them, Sadath suffered a serious head injury. He is being treated in a private hospital in Hassan, while two others are being treated in Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences.
The incident happened around 5 p.m, and the reason for the clash is not known. According to the police, Mithun and his friends picked up an argument with Sadath and his friends and that led to the assault. The accused even chased the victims in a car and stopped them by hitting their two-wheeler. The police have booked a case against Mithun, Santhosh and Kumar. Mithun has been actively involved in the activities of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal.
Following the incident senior police officers rushed to the spot and nabbed the accused late in the night, sources said.
