Three deaths of H1N1 reported in Tumakuru

Three deaths have been reported due to H1N1 in the month of February in Tumakuru district.

According to District Health Officer, Dr. Shashikala N., since January, 51 persons were tested positive for H1N1 out of which 48 have been discharged from the hospitals and four are still in the hospitals.

Floating population is the reason for the increase in the number of H1N1 cases in the district.

Srinivas (35) of Naragondanahalli in Sira taluk died at Columbia Asia hospital in Bengaluru on February 14. Srinivas got fever after returning to his village in Manthralaya in Andhra Pradesh.

Mallaiah (76), resident of Reddihalli in Madhugiri taluk died of H1N1 at a private hospital in Tumakuru city on February 25. Mallaiah had gone to the hospital to undergo an orthopaedic surgery but he contracted the disease from the hospital.

Manjula (24), resident of Gundarlahalli in Pavagada taluk died of H1N1 at Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences, Bengaluru on February 26. Pavagada, being the border taluk of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, movement of people Pavagada to Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh is common.

The Health department has taken all necessary measures to control the disease but people also must co-operate with the department by adopting preventive measures, she said.
