PU students who failed under the old (State) syllabus will be given three chances to pass the exams under the old syllabus. The Department of Pre-University Education (DPUE) has announced that this will be applicable to students of both I and II PU.

While the old exam pattern allotted 90 marks to theory and 10 marks for practicals, under the new exam system theory is allotted 70 marks and practicals are given 30 marks.

According to a DPUE circular, the 2016 final exam is the last chance for those who failed the I PU science (PCMB combination) to write the exam under the old syllabus. Those who failed in other streams and combinations can attempt the exams until the 2017 exam. For those who failed the II PU PCMB exam, the 2017 final exam will be the last chance, while the 2018 exam will be the last chance for II PU students who failed in other streams. — Staff Reporter
