Thief pushes TTE from train

The identity of the thief, who was caught stealing mobile phones of passengers on the Miraj - Goa train, is yet to be ascertained.

A mobile thief pushed the Traveling Ticket Examiner (TTE) from a train near Belagavi on Sunday night and escaped.

K.M. Chinnappa, a TTE attached to the Hubballi railway division, was pushed out of the train by the thief who was caught in the act. The thief, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, was caught stealing mobile phones of passengers on the Miraj - Goa train.

Though Mr. Chinnappa caught the thief with help of passengers, he (thief) pushed him off the train. Sources said that the thief also jumped out of the train and escaped.

Soon after the incident, the passengers stopped the train by pulling the chain. The TTE, who sustained injuries on his hands and head, received first aid at the railway station in Ghataprabha. He has been admitted to the railway hospital in Hubballi.

The railway police are on the lookout for the thief, who was caught on a camera on the train.
