Cinematics-2014, a short movie and photography competition, was conducted at Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDM-IMD) here recently.
The short movie category attracted entries from across India. The Wheel , a Bengali film directed by Subhadipta Biswas and Arijit Mitra was adjudged the best short movie. U-Turn , a Kannada film directed by Madan Ramvenkatesh, won second position.
The other movies which were short-listed and presented before the jury were – Lemon Candy , a musical directed by Kannankodoth; Che , a Kannada film directed by Shashank Soghal; Sanjay , a Kannada film directed by Karthik Nayaka; Mahatma , a Telugu film by Sudheer Kumar; Ekulta Raja , a Marathi film by Junaid Imam; Change for a Change , a Kannada film directed by Deepak Hassan and another Kannada film of Madan Ramvenkatesh.
The theme of the photography competition was ‘A journey through India - Rail, Road and River’ which attracted 100-plus entries. This year, social media was used for publicity and evaluation, a press release issued here said.
Entries were made available on the institute’s Facebook page and the likes and comments were considered for final evaluation using web analysis tools, the release stated.
Sagar Koshthi won first place while Bharath Kumar Hegde Mr Soumyadeep Mukherjee bagged second and third positions respectively. Sixty entries were short-listed and displayed in an exhibition, according to the release.
