Don’t miss the musical fountain at the renovated Kuppanna Park during weekends with the Horticulture Department formally launching regular shows since last weekend. The fountain was lying idle since last Dasara. It was operated only during the previous Dasara since the park hosted the Dasara flower show.

The Mysore City Corporation (MCC) had handed over the park’s development and maintenance to the Horticulture Department.

Senior Assistant Director of Horticulture Krishna Kumar told The Hindu that two 20-minute shows will be conducted from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. “If there are more crowds, we can have an additional show,” he said, adding that the fountain dances eight songs, including Kannada and Hindi.

“We got the musical fountain system repaired to make it operational for Dasara. An outstanding power bill of Rs 1.5 lakh was cleared by the department to resume its operations,” Mr. Krishna Kumar said. The show on Saturday (April 25) could not be held owing to heavy rain in the city. The Sunday show saw a gathering of around 50 people. Once the local residents and tourists get to know that the show has resumed, the response will pick up, he said.

Spread over 12 acres and a five-minute walk from the Mysuru palace, Kuppanna Park got a facelift through the grants sanctioned by Chief Minister.
