The king of fruits can wait!

April 25, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - MYSURU:

The ‘king of fruits’ has arrived but people in Mysuru are still not sure about whether they want to buy mangoes yet. The blistering summer heat is to blame for this.

As water-rich seasonal fruits continue to be the first option for city dwellers this season, the mango may just have to wait for the ‘aam aadmi’.

“Fruits that help beat the heat are preferred now. Mango season has just begun and there is still a lot of time to savour the fruits. There will many takers for the fruit after first few showers,” a visitor at Devaraja Market said.

Extended fruit season

Moreover, mangoes have not arrived on a full scale and horticulture authorities say that the fruit season, especially for mangoes will be extended this year due to late flowering.

The fruit is expected to be available till July-August.

All popular varieties of mangoes have hit the market but with a costly price tag.
