The first round of the National Pulse Polio programme will be held in the State on January 20 and the second round on February 24, in an attempt to cover all children aged below five.

A note circulated at the State-level steering committee meeting, presided by Chief Secretary S.V. Ranganath on Monday, stated that the first day of the campaign is the booth activity followed by house-to-house activity for the next two days in rural areas of southern districts and for three days in rural areas of north Karnataka, and in all urban areas of the State.

Last case reported

The last case of polio in the State was reported from the Yeshwantpur area in Bangalore in November 2007, among a group of migrants from Uttar Pradesh.
