There was tension on Visvesvaraya Road here on Thursday after a group of people damaged a car belonging to a shopkeeper who allegedly misbehaved with a girl. Three persons have been detained in this connection.

According to the youngsters who damaged the car, the shopkeeper employed a girl from their community as a sales assistant a few days ago. They alleged that he harassed the girl. After the girl narrated the incident to her parents, the accused barged into the shop to question the shopkeeper, who was absent. The angry youngsters damaged his car which was parked outside the shop instead. The police rushed to the spot and dispersed the mob. One of the accused sustained injuries on his right arm while damaging the car’s windows. He was admitted to a hospital, the police added.

While the accused alleged that the shopkeeper had been harassing his employee, the shopkeeper, according to the police, denied the allegation.
