A high-level empowered committee meeting chaired by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday decided to conduct the Jamboo Savari and the torchlight parade on October 11.

Decision on Aug. 9

Addressing presspersons after the meeting, the Chief Minister said the decision on selecting the personality for inauguration would be taken by the Dasara Working Committee, which would meet on August 9.

According to the almanac ( panchanga ), Vijayadashami will be celebrated on October 11, while October 1 is marked as Navaratri, the day on which the festivities normally begin. The Dasara festivities will be inaugurated atop the Chamundi Hills on October 1 at 11.40 a.m. by offering puja to Goddess Chamundeshwari. The Chief Minister instructed the Mysuru district administration to make sure that stalls at the Dasara exhibition were also inaugurated on the same day.
