Tejashree chosen for Srivijaya Sahitya Prashati

Noted young writer and poet Ja.Na. Tejashree has been chosen for the Kannada Sahitya Parishat’s Srivijaya Sahitya Prashati for 2012.

The award has been instituted to recognise writers aged below 40. It carries a purse of Rs. 1,11,111 and a memento. Ms. Tejashree, a native of Hassan, is a known name in literary circles. She has five poetry collections — Laya , Tiligola , Kattaleya Belagu , Avanarivalli , and Usrubunde — to her credit. She has translated works of Pablo Neruda and Ali Sardar Jafri, among others.

Ms. Tejashree has narrated and compiled Jnanpith award winner U.R. Ananthamurthy’s autobiography, Suragi . She was introduced to the world of literature by her father, Ja.Ho. Narayanaswamy, a writer.

She has been honoured with awards, including the Karnataka Sangha award and Bendre award.
