Techie seeks help to find missing mother

A person, running a software firm in the United States of America and a native of Korgi village near Kundapur, has sought the help of people to trace his 65-year-old mother, who is missing from the village since June 24.

Addressing presspersons here on Friday, Satish Shetty, CEO of Codeproof Technologies Inc., said his mother Malathi B. Shetty had left their house on a 25-acre plot at Korgi village to visit a neighbour at 1.30 p.m. on June 24, but she did not return till evening. “She was wearing gold ornaments worth Rs. 3.5 lakh. But this is not unusual as she wore it daily,” he said.

His father had searched for her and asked with their relatives and friends in vain. A missing complaint was lodged at Kundapur police station on June 26. The search had been extended to Sringeri, Dharmasthala, Subrahmanya and other pilgrim centres, and CCTV footage examined. But this too had not yielded any result, he said.

On July 13, the personnel of the Fire and Emergency Services had even searched ponds and wells in the area and its surroundings.

Mr. Shetty was in the U.S. when his mother went missing. He reached Korgi on July 4 and joiend the search for her. He would be leaving for the U.S. on July 19.

Superintendent of Police K. Annamalai has formed a special team under Deputy Superintendent of Police Manjunath Shetty, but has made no progress so far. “If any person helps us in tracing my mother, we will give him/her a suitable reward. I request people to help me in this regard,” Mr. Shetty said.

Ms. Malathi Shetty is five feet, five inches tall and has grey black hair. She has a round face, fair complexion and normal built. She was wearing a cream sari and pink blouse when she left her house. She speaks only Kannada, with a Kundapur accent.
