Team to fell ‘dangerous’ trees

February 01, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - HUBBALLI:

The Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation will now have its own team from the horticulture section to prune or fell trees that pose a threat to human lives.

After the delay in felling old and fragile trees came up in the council meeting here on Saturday, Mayor Shivu Hiremath directed the officials to set up a team and purchase equipment required for pruning and felling ‘dangerous’ trees. He also ordered officials from the horticulture section to ensure that for each such tree felled, a minimum of two saplings were planted.
