Team of officials review central sponsored schemes in Kolar

A team of officials on Tuesday began a progress review of central sponsored schemes in the district.

K.M. Jayan and M.K. Jainesh, researchers from Kochi-based Centre for Socio-Economic and Environment Studies (CSES) held a meeting with the officers of various departments and visited some villages to review the progress made in implementation of schemes.

Inspecting and submitting report about the implementation of schemes including Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNRES), National Rural Drinking Water Project, Indira Awas Yojana, National Rural Livelihood Campaign and Integrated Watershed Maintenance Project is the objective of the visit, the officials said.

Lapses in the implementation will also be reported to the centre, they added.

The team selected Mulbagal, Srinivasapur and Bangarpet taluks for the purpose.

The team members accompanied by Zilla Panchayat and other officials visited Alambadi Jyotenahalli and Sundarapalya grama panchayats in Bangarpet taluk on Tuesday. They reviewed the schemes at Ghattakadhenuhalli in the same taluk and Avan and Kappalamadagu in Mulbagal taluk on Wednesday. They are scheduled to visit Motakapalli, Kodipalli and Somayajalupalli panchayats on Thursday.

Zilla Panchayat officers M.C. Cheluvaraj, Mohankumar, ‘Swachcha Bhahrat Abhiyan’ district coordinator Jagadish, Assistant Conservator of Forests, N.H. Jagannath, Sericulture Department deputy director, S.V. Kumar, participated in the meeting, among others.
