Team of officials checks for encroachments on tank

April 21, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:41 am IST - Bidar:

A team of officials visited the Naubad tank in Bidar on Monday to inspect encroachments on the tank bund. Some youth organisations had complained to the government that the historic tank has been suffering encroachments, top soil mining by brick kiln workers and cultivation of crops in the catchment area and the tank bed.

Officials measured the tank area and checked for signs of encroachments.

They also checked the documents of the brick kiln manager and the farmers cultivating crops there. Assistant Commissioner Annies K. Joy instructed officials to close the brick kiln as it was running without valid permits.

She asked senior geologist S. Kumar to submit a report on the encroachments. She said further action would be taken after further investigation. Revenue and police department officials were present.
