TATA Trusts will launch the process of micro-planning for development of 264 villages in Vijayawada Parliamentary constituency starting with a two-week training session for 1,200 volunteers on May 1.
They will come up with a comprehensive analytical database by June 15 after which the actual exercise begins.
A project director will be supervising the activities from Vijayawada and an in-charge for each one of the four Assembly constituencies – Jaggaiahpet, Mylavaram, Nandigama and Tiruvur (SC) – will monitor at the field level.
“TATA Trusts have agreed to fill the gaps in funding in all the identified villages. The goal is to transform them into models for other villages in the country in three years but the outcome depends on the kind of cooperation extended by government departments”, Vijayawada MP Kesineni Srinivas observed.
Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Mr. Srinivas said no where in the country all the villages in a Parliamentary constituency were chosen by TATA Trusts for extending financial assistance. It took six months for him to propose the micro-planning for 264 villages and impress upon the Trusts to contribute to development of the villages.
TATA Trusts will fill the gaps in funding various Central and State government schemes in the villages over the next two to three years.
TATA Trusts Programme Officer Paresh J. Manohar said a draft village development plan has already been prepared for Gollamandala (it was adopted by Vijayawada MP under Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana). It would be replicated in the other villages with necessary modifications.
The financial implications would be known once the micro-planning is over.
The programme is being implemented by TATA Trusts and its partners Social Cops, New Delhi and Centre of People’s Forestry based in Secunderabad.
Zilla Parishad chairperson Gadde Anuradha and MLAs Tangirala Sowmya (Nandigama) and Sriram Rajagopal (Jaggaiahpet) thanked the TATA Trusts for their gesture.
