Tanker contractors seek payment of bills

January 07, 2015 06:07 pm | Updated 06:07 pm IST - Kolar:

The owners of tankers who had a contract with the City Municipal Council (CMC) for supplying water to residents sought the clearance of pending bills.

The non-payment of amount for the last eight months has left the contractors in a lurch, they said in a memorandum submitted to CMC President, B.M. Mubarak on Tuesday.

Earlier, the tanker owners staged a dharna in front of the CMC office condemning delay in payment. “Water supply will be stopped if the bills are not cleared”, they warned and said the CMC will be responsible for the inconvenience caused to the public.

P.V. Raman, Shivaprakash, Girish and others participated in the protest.
