Syndicate Bank to open 400 branches next fiscal

T.K. Srivastava, Executive Director of Syndicate Bank, said on Tuesday that the bank would be starting 300 to 400 new branches in the country in the next fiscal year.

Addressing presspersons here, Mr. Srivastava said that the bank had 3,500 branches across the country. The bank would recruit 5,000 personnel in clerical and official cadre. Last year, the bank had recruited 4,000 persons.

The deposits of the bank had increased by 29 per cent, standing at Rs. 2,51,469 crore in the nine months period till December of the Financial Year (FY) 2014-15 as against Rs. 1,95,120 crore during the corresponding period in 2013-14. The advances had increased by 19 per cent to Rs. 1,86,630 crore in 2014-15 as against Rs. 1,57,378 crore in 2013-14.

The business of the bank had increased by 24 per cent to Rs. 4,38,099 crore in 2014-15 as against Rs. 3,52,498 crore in 2013-14. Net profit had increased by 15 per cent and stood at Rs. 1,302 crore in 2014-15 as against Rs. 1,106 crore in the previous year. The Gross non-performing assets (NPA) of the bank had increased by 53 per cent and gone to Rs. 6,742 crore in 2014-15 from Rs. 4,401 crore in 2013-14.
