Swine flu claims 11th victim in Bangalore

A 26-year-old woman died of swine flu here, taking the toll to 11 in Karnataka which accounts for the second highest fatalities in the country after Maharashtra.

Ms. Lakshmi, admitted to the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Disease on August 15, passed away on Thursday night, becoming the eighth women to fall prey to the H1N1 virus in the state, health officials said here on Friday.

She was suffering from pneumonia and had symptoms of swine flu. She was put on ventilator and Tamiflu tablets, the officials said.
