Two young members of the Belgaum-based Swimmers’ Club and Aquarius Swim Club won six medals at the Karnataka State Sub-Junior and Junior Aquatic Championship held in Bangalore from May 28 to 31.

The championship was organised by the Karnataka Swimming Association to select the team to represent Karnataka at the national event.

Nearly 600 swimmers from across the State had participated in this event.

Roshan Uday (group II boys) won a gold medal in the 50 m butterfly stroke and a silver medal in two events, the 50 m breast stroke and 50 m freestyle.

Prishita Parmar (group III girls) won a silver in the 50 m backstroke and two bronze medals in the 50 m butterfly stroke and 100 m backstroke. Parmar has been selected for the 30th Sub-Junior National Aquatic Championship, which will be held in Goa soon, while Uday has qualified for the Junior National Aquatic Championship to be held in Hyderabad.

Both swimmers trained at the Rotary Corporation Sports Academy, Belgaum.
