Swedish Ambassador to India, Harald Sandberg, on Tuesday, invited Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to Sweden to showcase its latest technology for solid waste management and urban transport system.
Mr. Sandberg requested the Chief Minister to visit Sweden from August 17 to 21. He called on Mr. Siddaramaiah at the latter’s office in the State Secretariat and discussed various industry-related issues in the presence of officials from the Commerce and Industry departments.
Ideal placeThe world’s largest bus and truck manufacturers such as Volvo and Scania are based in Sweden. Swedish companies such as ABB, SKF, AstraZeneca, Hennes & Mauritz, Volvo Trucks, SSAB, and more recently Scania, have chosen Bangalore over other places to start their business. Around 170 Swedish companies have established operations in India.
Mr. Siddaramaiah said he would visit Sweden and make every attempt to attract investment to the State. Moreover, the State has decided to hold a Global Investors’ Meet (GIM) in Bangalore on February 2015. “I invite Sweden to be a partner State for GIM 2015,” he told Mr. Sandberg.
A company official said that Scania, which inaugurated its industrial facility at Narasapura last year, has manufactured 2,000 trucks so far. It has decided to manufacture buses also. The company invested Rs. 1,000 crore and would invest an additional Rs. 350 crore to manufacture buses, the official said.
