A 55-year-old man hailing from Kottalachinta village has been suspected to have been infected by the H1N1 (swine flu) virus. Kottalachinta village coming under Raravi Public Health Centre in Sirguppa taluk of the district.
The woman was suffering from severe cough and cold and gone to a private medical practitioner for treatment on February 2nd. After two days, when she developed breathlessness, the local doctor, suspecting it to be a H1N1, referred her to a private hospital in Ballari. However, the patient preferred to undergo treatment at a hospital in Bengaluru, Dr. Ramesh Babu, District Health Officer told The Hindu .
Kottalchinta is located on the inter-State border of Ballari and Anantapur distirct and there was a possibility of the woman getting affected by virus during her recent visits to places across the border, he said, adding that efforts are on to get the case details from Bengaluru hospital
“On getting the information, I have asked the Taluk Health Officer Sirguppa and the District Surveillance Officer, to visit the village to collect all the data and take all precautionary measures, including organising awareness programmes about H1N1.”
He informed that Tamiflu tablets had been procured and was being supplied to all the taluk health officers, who in turn, will distribute them to the Primary Health Centres and Community Health Centres in their jurisdiction.
