The activists of Maharshi Valmiki Sangh and followers of Raja Venkatappa Naik, MLA for Surpur, held a protest on Monday and urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to induct the former into the Cabinet and continue the former Minister, Satish L. Jarkiholi, in the Cabinet.

Following the protest, business establishments, traders and shopkeepers downed shutters from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The agitators took out a rally and gathered at Mahatma Gandhi Chowk. They said that Mr. Naik was not given a chance in the Cabinet though he was a three-time MLA. They also questioned the CM for dropping Satish L. Jarkiholi from the Cabinet without proper reasons.
