Support is pouring in for the parents of a dowry harassment victim who are staging an indefinite dharna on Deputy Commissioner’s office premises here seeking justice.

It is alleged that Veena (23) and her two-year-old daughter Deepthi were killed by her husband S.K. Santoshkumar and his family members here on July 10.

The former MLA G.V. Sriram Reddy participated in the dharna on Friday. Autorickshaw drivers under the banner of the CITU-affiliated Auto Rickshaw Drivers’ Union also joined the protest being spearheaded by the Janavadi Mahila Sanghatane from Wednesday.

The protesters are demanding the arrest of Santoshkumar, who is absconding.

Mr. Reddy condemned the police “inaction” in arresting the main accused.

“There is political pressure behind the police failure to arrest the accused,” he charged.
