Sugarcane growers to get advance payment of Rs. 2,400 a tonne: Ambareesh

Minister for Housing M.H. Ambareesh on Saturday said growers who supply sugarcane to Mysore Sugars and Pandavapura Sugar Cooperative Factories would get an advance payment of Rs. 2,400 a tonne.

Speaking to presspersons after a meeting of sugarcane growers and officers, chaired by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Mr. Ambareesh said growers would get an additional amount after the price fixation committee discussed the issue.

Vishnuvardhan memorial

Earlier, while speaking to presspersons, he said that the daughters of actor Balakrishna, on whose land Vishnuvardhan was cremated, had refused to part with the land to create a memorial to Vishnuvardhan. He said he would discuss the issue with Mr. Siddaramaiah, which arose following a statement by Bharati Vishnuvardhan she would shift the memorial to Mysore if the government failed to confirm the land.
