Students of Daffodils International Public School and Sri Sharada Vidya Samshte took part in the ‘Swachh Bharat’ campaign at Ashok Nagar here on Friday.
Equipped with buckets, brooms and gloves, they participated in the cleanliness drive organised to keep the surroundings clean.
Around 200 students participated in the campaign. They removed wild plants, several bags of tobacco packets, alcohol bottles, polythene covers and cigarette butts.
“Students can play an important role in keeping the school premises clean. Hence, the school had organised the campaign”, Nayana, Head Mistress of the school, told The Hindu .
According to Ms. Nayana, the students took an oath that they would keep their class rooms/residences and surroundings clean.
“It was not mandatory. But, we voluntarily participated in the programme and did something useful to the society,” students said.
