Many students who appeared for the Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission into professional courses on Wednesday said that there were typographical errors in the biology paper and that all choices for one question in the mathematics paper were incorrect.
Lecturers and faculty members in coaching classes acknowledged that there were errors and demanded that students be given grace marks.
Officials of the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) said that the papers will be scrutinised by an expert committee which will decide if there is a need to allot grace marks to candidates. Sagar R. from Deeksha, Thyagaraja Nagar, felt the mathematics paper was a bit tough. “I found Geometry relatively tough. Questions from PU 1 were a bit complex. Most of the questions were from PU 2. I think the paper was slightly tougher than last year. However, time was not an issue.”
Of the 1.98 lakh students who registered for the exam, many students chose to skip the biology paper: 1.53 lakh students attempted the biology paper, while 1.9 lakh students attended the mathematics paper.
Students will appear for the physics and chemistry papers on Thursday.
