Students from top institutes to vie for honours

The Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD), in association with the Rotary Mysore Mid Town, is organising the Y. Bhagavan Memorial Inter-Collegiate Debate Competition on February 8 at SDMIMD here. The event was earlier scheduled on January 11.

Annual event

The annual event is conducted in memory of Y. Bhagavan, a renowned teacher. He was the winner of the All-India inter-university debate held in Thiruvananthapuram in 1947.

He retired as the principal of Maharani’s Arts College, Mysuru.

Over the years, the event has become a platform for igniting young minds and encouraging their skills of presentation, critical thinking, research and analysis, according to a release. This year, along with the prestigious trophy, winners will get a cash prize of Rs. 50,000.

The event will witness fierce competition with students representing top institutions in area of management, medical, engineering, law and humanities from Karnataka and neighbouring States.
