A case of a 15-year-old girl being abducted and gang-raped has been reported from a village in Malur taluk of Kolar district.

The crime, which took place on June 28, came to light when the girl lodged a police complaint on Wednesday.

According to the complaint, four youths abducted the girl while she was returning from school on June 28, took her to a secluded place in Kuppur, under the Masti police station limits, and gang-raped her.

The police said the crime did not come to light immediately because some influential persons in the village tried to hush it up.

The police gave the names of the accused as Munikrsihna, Narayanaswamy, Anilkumar and Krishna. Four special teams have been formed to arrest the accused, Superintendent of Police Ajay Hilori told The Hindu .

The victim has been admitted to government hospital.

Dismay

All India Democratic Women’s Association’s State unit has expressed dismay over the incident and demanded the immediate arrest of the accused as well as those who tried to shield them.
