The DPUE cautioned striking lecturers and principals that they were bound by various laws to participate in evaluation work.

While notices have been dispatched to all striking lecturers, the department, however, did not specify the action that would be initiated against them if they do not report for duty. On Sunday, the department also issued an advertisement asking the lecturers to return to work.

Minister Kimmane Ratnakar, who already announced that the government’s final offer to striking lecturers was one round of increment and continuing of existing ex gratia of Rs. 500, once again appealed to them to report for evaluation duty.

He said that under the current financial situation and with several parts of the State being affected by drought, the State government had tried to solve the problem of the PU lecturers and high school teachers.
