Live storage in the Krishnaraja Sagar increased to 33.88 tmcft following heavy rainfall over the last few weeks in the catchment areas of the Cauvery in Kodagu district.

The water-level in the reservoir reached 112.1 ft at 6.30 p.m. on Saturday. The full reservoir level is 124.8 ft.

The total storage capacity of the reservoir is 49.45 tmcft.

Meanwhile, following downpour in Kodagu and areas upstream, the water-level in the reservoir has been steadily increasing.

While the inflow rate was 19,780 cusecs, the outflow rate was 5,066 cusecs during the same period. “We are expecting heavy rainfall in the catchment areas on Sunday. This significantly increase the inflow rate in the next three days,” an officer of the Cauvery Neeravari Nigam Ltd. told The Hindu .

Drinking water for Bangalore, Mysore, Mandya and Ramanagaram districts is drawn from the reservoir.
