The Bharat Scouts and Guides has organised a five-day long rovers and rangers trekking camp in the rocky Avanibetta and Devarayasamudrabetta hill tract in Mulbagal taluk of Kolar district. The camp will begin on December 20 and conclude on 24.
According to District Chief Commissioner of the organisation, K.V. Shankarappa, about 450 youths from various parts of the State are likely to take part in the event.
The hill tracts in the district beckon adventure-sports lovers. They offer good atmosphere for trekking, Mr. Shankarappa said. Adventure sports camp is being conducted on such a large scale in the district after a gap of eight years.
MP K.H. Muniyappa, will inaugurate the camp on Saturday. State Chief Commissioner of Scouts and Guides, P.G.R. Sindhya will preside over the inaugural function.
The trekkers will participate in community development programme by offering ‘shramadana’ in Avani and Devarayasamudra villages, Mr. Shankarappa said.
A free heart check-up camp by Narayana Hridayalaya and screening of a documentary film on the role of youth in protecting wild life are other features of the camp.
