Staff union opposes bus fare hike

September 26, 2012 09:39 am | Updated June 28, 2016 10:53 pm IST - BANGALORE:

KSRTC and BMTC United Employees Union on Tuesday urged the government not to accept proposals by State road transport corporations to increase bus fare in view of the hike in diesel price.

Union general secretary John D’Souza has, in a release in Bangalore, said that the transport corporations have the lowest bus-staff ratio (about 1:5) compared to the transport corporations elsewhere (about 1:7).

Through this, the transport corporations have been saving a lot on employees salary even as they are forcing the staff to overwork, Mr. D’Souza said.
