Poor performance of Hyderabad Karnataka districts in SSLC examination continued this year with most districts finding spots at the bottom of the State’s ranking grid.

Koppal, which showed impressive improvement over previous year by climbing 10 steps in the ranking ladder to reach 16th position in the PU examination, managed to maintain its top position in the region in SSLC examination as well by securing 11th position this year from 23rd position last year. However, its pass percentage slumped from 76.95% in the previous year to 76.05% this year.

Surprisingly, Yadgir and Ballari, which were at 32nd and 34th positions respectively last year, recorded a significant upward movement by securing 16th and 17th positions this year. The pass percentage of Yadgir improved from 69.54 last year to 74.84 this year. Ballari too improved its pass percentage significantly from 58.02 to 74.65.

The other three districts showed poor performances. Kalaburagi stepped down from the 17th position to 27th position and Raichur from 11th position to 30th. Kalaburagi’s pass percentage was down from 79.64 to 70.14, and Raichur from 82.97 to 69.69.

Bidar, which slipped from 27th to 31st position, the bottom-most rung in the State PU ranking grid, has fallen to the bottommost position in SSLC examination as well. It lost its last year’s 24th position to reach 34th position to claim bottommost position, occupied by Ballari last year. Its passing percentage too was down from 76.6 to 62.2.
