Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep has recommended suspension of Block Education Officer (Rural) Mahadev Belannavar for late supply of question papers on the first day of SSLC examinations that began on March 30.

He has also suspended nine examination superintendents and 18 members of the resident vigilant squad for failing to check copying and other malpractices across 27 centres during the exams in the district.

According to a release here, the district administration and the Zilla Panchayat have also decided to take action against Mr. Belannavar. A departmental inquiry has also been ordered and a charge-sheet prepared with the help of eight route officers.

The release said the BEO did not supply the pack of question papers on time, because of which the exams could not begin at the stipulated time at centres in Bijjaragi, Nagathan, Buranapur, Arakeri, Halagani and Shivangi.

Mr. Randeep has directed officials deputed on exam duty to ensure fair and impartial exam, and warned them of stringent action in case of lapses. He has asked the public to directly complain to him on the number 9448140021 about any exam malpractices in the district.
