SRTCs urged to pay arrears to employees

March 29, 2014 01:17 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 06:32 pm IST - BANGALORE:

The KSRTC Staff and Workers Federation has urged the four State road transport corporations (SRTCs) to immediately pay arrears of dearness allowance, house rent allowance, gratuity, medical bills, etc. to their employees.

In a letter to the heads of the four corporations — KSRTC, BMTC, NWKRTC and NEKRTC, federation general secretary H.V. Ananthasubba Rao has said non-payment of HRA and DA amounts to violation of settlements and is punishable under the Industrial Disputes Act.

He said on November 21, 2013, SRTC employees from across the State gathered in Bangalore and demanded that the managements clear the arrears due to them as well as towards KSRTC ECPF Trust, Employees Societies, LIC and PLI premiums, medical bills, leave encashment, etc.

The Karnataka High Court, on August 28, 2013, directed the SRTCs to pay all arrears due to retired employees within three months. This order was yet to be honoured, he said.

Mr. Rao said since Ugadi was just around the corner, the corporation should immediately pay the arrears to enable employees to celebrate the festival.
