The Lakshmipuram police will constitute a special team to identify persons who allegedly roughed up a woman accused of rash driving in which a person astride a two-wheeler was injured on Monday.

The incident took place on JLB Road near the Mysore Urban Development Authority Circle traffic junction.

The woman, identified as Samantha Ann Philip, was driving a car and her vehicle allegedly rammed an autorickshaw before colliding with a scooter.

In the process, Chandrappa who was on the two-wheeler and waiting at the signal, was knocked down and sustained injuries.

While a crowd gathered at the accident spot and made arrangements to shift the victim to the hospital, the woman did not get down from her vehicle fearing her security and that of her child.

This infuriated a few persons who smashed the window panes causing injuries to the car passengers.

While Mr. Chandrappa was shifted to the hospital, Ms. Samantha was taken to K.R. Traffic police station where a case was registered against her for rash driving.

Ms. Samantha has also filed a complaint against the mob for manhandling her. A case has been registered against unidentified persons.

Inspector P.M. Siddaraju said efforts were on to identify the persons who caused injuries to her.

He said Ms. Samantha did not turn up for investigation on Tuesday and it was presumed that she was in shock but would issue summons to her in due course. The condition of Mr. Chandrappa is improving, the police said.
