Some core committee members out of station

Amid insistence of the devotees that the incumbent seer of Moorusavir Math should continue, the solution for the Moorusavir Math succession row continues to be elusive.

There has been steady flow of visitors to the Math, who want to ‘enquire the health’ of the incumbent seer Sri Gurusiddha Rajayogindra Swami who had earlier announced that he would abdicate the ‘peetha’. They have been urging the seer to continue as the head of the math.

On Monday Sri Annadanishwara Swami of Annadanishwar Math of Mundaragi in Gadag district and along two other seers spent some time with Gurusiddha Rajayogindra Swami in the Math and had a discussion on the issue with him.

Speaking to press persons subsequently Sri Annadanishwara Swami said that he had asked Gurusiddha Rajayogindra Swami not to abdicate the ‘peetha’ and involve himself in various religious activities to de-stress himself.

Member of the core committee of the math and former MLC Mohan Limbikai told press persons that Sri Gurusiddha Rajayogindra Swami had been convinced not to step down from the position of the head of the math.

The swami had assured that to convene a meeting of the devotees of the math within a couple of days and announce his decision formally in front of them, he said.

However the decision over the issue seems to be unlikely until the return of the other members of the core committee of the math including former chief minister and opposition leader Jagadish Shettar, who has declined to speak to the media on the issue.

Apart from Mr. Shettar, former minister Basavaraj Bommai and former chairperson of legislative council Veeranna Mattikatti are also out of station. Former minister Basavaraj Horatti, MLC Vijay Sankeshwar, former KCCI president Shankranna Munavalli are the other members of the core committee.

Apart from that of the devotees, a lot depends on what their stand would be on the issue in finding a solution to the problem, which has put the prominent Lingayat math in news for wrong reasons. Meanwhile, some of the devotees have raised questions about what authority the core committee has to decide on the issue of succession and a local court has also issued a stay on the succession issue till October 30.
