The Slum Janashakthi Rajya Jatha, which was inaugurated on December 9, received a grand welcome as it entered the city on Wednesday.
Residents of various slums here received the jatha on the Bangalore–Mysore highway here. The jatha, which covered various districts, will arrive in Bangalore on December 21.
It was organised to put pressure on the State government to act on its promise of creating a slum-free Karnataka, the organisers told presspersons.
They sought basic amenities in slums across the State. The participants also sought BPL cards, proper water and electricity supply, free healthcare, education for their children, etc.
