The residents of different slums in the city took out a procession here on Tuesday, urging the State government to fulfil their various demands, including title deeds.

Under the banner of ‘Mandya City Slum Residents Forum’, they took out the rally from Bengaluru-Mysuru highway near ‘Cauvery Park’ and staged the demonstration outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office for a while.

Narendra Modi-led Government has suspended the ‘Rajiv Awas Yojna’ (RAY). However, the State government is not requesting the Centre to continue the RAY, they alleged.

The agitators demanded title deeds for those residing at Tamil Colony and Kalikamba slums.

And, demanded permanent shelters under government schemes for slum dwellers at Gaadi Karkhane and Shramik Nagar here.

The forum member also demanded drinking water, electricity, roads, drainage and other facilities for the residents of Slaughter House, S.D. Jayaram Layout and others slums in the city.
