Six killed in road accidents

Six persons died in road accidents that took place in Vijayapura and Raichur on Friday. In Vijayapura, four persons were killed in two accidents, that occurred in Sindagi taluk.

In the first accident, two persons who were riding on a motorcycle died when their vehicle collided with a bus.

They have been identified as Ismail Turabkhan (18) and Zuber Gadag (22).

While the former died on the spot, the latter died on the way to the district government hospital.

In the other accident, a car collided with a dilapidated bus shelter on National Highway 218 near Chikkasindagi. The driver Mohsin Bhairamadagi (21), died on the spot and Rafiq Korbu (33) died on the way to a hospital.

Two others have been injured and have been admitted to the government hospital in a critical condition.

Head-on collision

In Raichur, two bikers were killed on the spot when their two-wheeler collided with a public transport bus near Gundagurthi Cross in Deodurg taluk.

The deceased have been identified as Ramesh (20) and Siddappa (21), of Ramanal village in Deodurg taluk.

A case has been registered at Deodurg police station.

Vijayapura: The District Police is conducting civilian rifle training camp from August 17 to August 25 at police parade ground.

In a release here, Superintendent of Police, D. Prakash said that interest persons may contact the office of Deputy Superintendent of Police of District Arms Reserve inside the police quarters near SP office for collecting applications.

Last date for filing applications is August 12, the release said.
