Six drown in two incidents

Six persons, including five minors, drowned in two incidents in Kolar and Chickballapur districts on Sunday.

Four members of family drowned in Kempareddigaripalli tank in Gownipalli police limits in Srinivasapur taluk of Kolar on Sunday.

The police gave their names as Mustak Mohammad (12), Mudassir Khan Ahmad (21), Mansur Khan (15), and Rajik (15), all residents of Srinivasapur town.

A woman member of the family, identified as Wahida Taj, was rescued by the locals. The family members, who were returning from a wedding at Addagal in the taluk, ventured into the water for a swim, police sub-inspector Vikas told The Hindu . However, four of them drowned, he said.

Local people saw Wahida drowning and rescued her. All the four bodies have been recovered, he said.

In farm pond

Meanwhile, two boys who went for a swim in a farm pond drowned at Katakanakallu in Gauribidanur taluk of Chickballapur district on Sunday.

Gowribidanur Rural police gave their names as Ranjith (8) and Chandan (9).
