Six die in two accidents in Tumakuru district

Four persons were killed on the spot when a lorry rammed into a stationary van and a two-wheeler on National Highway 4 in Sira taluk in the district on Wednesday evening.

The police identified the deceased as Shivaprasad (23), of Gubbi Chikkannanapalya, and Varadaraju (35), Senthil Kumar (40) and Gnanesh (30), residents of Tiruchi in Tamil Nadu.

The van had suffered a puncture and was parked on the roadside.

Two persons on a motorcycle stopped to help them. The lorry rammed into them, crushing the four fatally.

The lorry driver is absconding. A case has been registered in Kallambella police station.

In Kunigal

In another incident, two persons were killed on the spot and one was injured when a private bus collided with a two-wheeler in Kunigal taluk.

The police identified the victims as Rangaswamy (20) and Venkatesh (22) of Ambedkarnagar in Kunigal town and the injured as Hemaraju (20) of the same area.

Hemaraju, who is in a serious condition, has been shifted to Bengaluru.

The bus driver is absconding.

A case has been registered in Kunigal police station
