The police have arrested six people for allegedly murdering one person near Machenahalli industrial estate.
The police identified the deceased as Madhu (26), a resident of Bhandarahalli village, who was stabbed to death.
The accused have been identified as Varadaraja, his accomplices Arun, Ahmed, Ravindra, Shivakumar and Raghavendra. All the six are from Bhadravati.
Rivalry in business
According to police, the victim was supplying canned drinking water to a few factories in the industrial estate and had a business rivalry with Varadaraja that had resulted in murder.
The police have said that, as part of the conspiracy planned by the arrested, Ravindra was sent to bring Madhu to Machenahalli on the pretext of holding talks with Varadaraja to end the rivalry.
Believing his story, Madhu had come to Machenahalli with Ravindra on a bike owned by the latter. When they reached Machenahalli, the accused, who had been lying in wait there, stabbed and killed Madhu.
Items seized
The police have seized a multi utility vehicle and three motoorcycles used by the arrested to execute the crime.
The Tunga Nagar police have booked case under section 302(murder) of Indian Penal Code against the arrested.
