Under Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Karnataka has become the number one state in corruption, says Jagadish Shettar, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly.

Jagadish Shettar, former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, has alleged that corruption was increasing in the state and held Chief Minister Siddaramaiah responsible for the same. “Under Mr. Siddaramaiah, Karnataka has become the number one state in corruption,” he said.

Speaking to presspersons on the sidelines of an event here on Saturday, he also held Mr. Siddaramaiah responsible for “utter failure in governance” in the state.

Mr. Shettar said that the report submitted by Deputy Inspector General (Prisons) D. Roopa was proof of the increasing corruption in the state. He said it showed how prisons had become havens for convicts because of corrupt prison officials. He urged Mr. Siddaramaiah to immediately order a judicial inquiry into the irregularities in the Parappana Agrahara prison that have been highlighted in Ms. Roopa’s report.
