Siddaramaiah cancels all engagements, returns to Bengaluru

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah cancelled all his engagements for the day and is said to be returning to Bengaluru from Hubballi in the wake of death of former chief minister N. Dharam Singh.

Mr. Siddaramaih was in Devi Hosur of Haveri district to lay foundation stone for the College of Horticultural Engineering and Food Technology when he received the news of Mr. Singh’s passing away.

After laying the foundation stone, one minute silence was observed to mourn the demise of Mr. Singh.

Speaking to reporters later, Mr. Siddaramaiah said Mr. Singh’s death was a great loss to the state.

Subsequently, he returned to Hubballi by road after cancelling all his engagements for the day. He will be returning to Bengaluru by a special flight, sources said.
